Our Development
2001: The idea
The employees of IVM, the interdisciplinary Institute of Management and Organisational Behavior at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, were pretty impressed after human resources developer Thomas Aringer had finished his presentation. Aringer had gathered them together at the invitation of Professor Wolfgang Mayrhofer to present his ideas for founding a new company with a scientific background and direct links to the IVM. In particular, he considered IVM's focus on career management to be a valuable link to his core interests of potential diagnostics and leadership development.
His aspirations for this company were as high in terms of content as they were in entrepreneurial ambition. Among the enthusiastic listeners was IVM's research associate Alexandre Iellatchitch, who was later to become a founding member and partner of 5P. IVM ultimately decided against founding a joint company, and Thomas Aringer accepted an offer to head the largest human resources and organisational development department in the country, that of Telekom Austria.
2003: Hotel Penta and the foundation of 5P Consulting
But in 2003, he finally set out to establish his own consulting company. 5 women and 5 men, among them Alexandre Iellatchitch and Amanda Dunkel from IVM, Gunhard Keil and other experienced personnel developers and management consultants, gathered at Hotel Penta. At this and subsequent meetings, the fundamental methodological approaches now reflected in the five P's were developed. By the way, Hotel Penta (= Greek for five), the location of this memorable meeting, is also the origin of the "5" in the company name 5P Consulting.
In November of the same year, everything was ready to be signed: six members of the “Penta Group” founded 5P as a network organisation, moved into an office in the Stubenbastei in Vienna I and got down to work.
2005: Reorganisation
The network approach that 5P Consulting pursued from the beginning offered clients a broad range of services. At the same time, however, the decentralised dynamic meant that very soon three people withdrew from their involvement in 5P. The company moved into a smaller office in Mommsenstraße, Vienna IV, and continued to consistently uphold its commitment to the highest quality of consulting with links to research and teaching.
As a result, the master's degree programs “Human Resources and Knowledge Management” and “Human Resources and Organisational Development” were also developed at FHWien. To this day, a significant number of 5P consultants teach at universities and universities of applied sciences.
2007: A fresh start at Brahmsplatz
5P began to establish itself more and more on the market and soon the office in Mommsenstraße became too small. The company moved into its new office at Brahmsplatz 3, where it can still be found today. The sense of new beginnings that accompanied this move spilled over into the business and the number of clients increased continuously.
In 2010, Gunhard Keil decided to go his own entrepreneurial way, later joining a client's board of directors, and today he is once again a valuable cooperation partner.
2018: 15th anniversary of a leading human resources development company
In recent years, 5P has focused on leadership and talent management and developed into a leading human resources development company in Vienna – and since 2017 also in Munich – which enjoys the trust of renowned companies, public institutions and NPOs. This year, 5P Consulting celebrates its 15th anniversary.
2020: The coronavirus pandemic as a challenge and an opportunity
The global coronavirus pandemic also presented 5P Consulting with new challenges, but also brought new opportunities: rapid digitalisation enabled a new, equivalent quality of customer support and service provision. This has increased the opportunities for interaction - a thoroughly positive outcome at the end of a turbulent year.
2021: On course for expansion in Germany
With the acquisition of the renowned "Akademie für Führungskräfte", 5P has significantly strengthened its presence on the German market. This strategic decision enabled the integration of new consultants and expanded the company's reach and expertise in Germany.
2022: "New & Good Work"
A promising cooperation with the HR management of A1 on the topic of "New & Good Work" led to an exciting series of events that enabled a lively, open and inspiring exchange in an exclusive group of managers and HR specialists.
As the core team grows, so does 5P's expertise: change management, moderation and mediation are further focal points.
2023: Expansion to Hungary, new partners and 20 years of 5P
The Hungarian training and consulting company in-Depth SOULutions becomes 5P Hungary, based in Budapest. This expansion opens up new opportunities for 5P to establish a strong presence in Central Europe.
In addition, 5P welcomed three new partners: Katja Goebel, Fruzsina Dénes and Johannes Tichy have firmly anchored their versatile specialist knowledge and many years of expertise in 5P.
20 years of 5P
The 20th anniversary celebration on 7 September 2023 at the Libelle in Vienna's MuseumsQuartier was a special highlight in the company's history and provided an opportunity to celebrate the successes of the past two decades together with the 5P consultant network and valued customers, companions and friends.
